| Someone holds the lead dog while the rest of the dogs are linked up. The lead dog is a facinating creature as he remains so calm while the others bark and jump about. I was told that the lead dog is experienced, older and more mature than the rest of the team. |

| This race is being held on a frozen river or ice road. Temperature was about -30 degrees with windchill. Taking pictures was a chore for the camera and point and shoot cameras cease to function in this weather. My hands nearly ceased to function in this weather. |
