Repetition Upon Repetition

Recently I entered a photo race where the assignment was Repetition.  I had never looked for repetition before but it is everywhere.  Even in our heads.

Any idea, plan, or purpose
may be placed in the mind
through repetition of thought.

Patience

Once upon a time I thought I wanted to be an artist.

I wanted to paint beautiful watercolors and sketch in great detail objects, people and places.

I went so far as to buy art books and supplies and invited someone to teach me how to draw.

I was given the assignment of drawing a flower.

I thought it would be easy.

It took forever.

Well, not forever, but do you know how many strokes it takes to make a flower?

It seemed like a million.

I don't have the patience and determination to be an artist but some people do.

This is what patience and determination create.

Two Hearts

This family has three handsome little boys but they longed for a little girl....

and they were so excited when they found out they were expecting a baby.

The day came when they could take a peek via ultra sound and the technician found not one heart...

but two........belonging to two little girls :-)

Retired Snow Skis

A few weeks ago, while traveling out of town, we saw this unusual next to a store we had just visited.  The owner was coming through the gate and, when asked, he said he didn't mind sharing his fence with photographers.  He said that in the fall when the leaves on the trees are turning yellow brides and grooms come to have their pictures taken in front of his fence.  The owner was pretty proud of his fence and I think rightly so.

Railroad Tracks

I needed a picture of railroad tracks for a photo contest.  I decided that black and white processing would be more dramatic for this photo.  I wasn't disappointed.

You will want to follow the link to see more black and white photos.  I'm linking up with http://blackandwhiteweekend.blogspot.com

Kuskokwim 300 - OR - There Was a Musher Had a Dog and BINGO Was His Name-O

My husband loved this sled dog.

Loading the dogs...

to take to the site.

Someone holds the lead dog while the rest of the dogs are linked up.  The lead dog is a facinating creature as he remains so calm while the others bark and jump about.  I was told that the lead dog is experienced, older and more mature than the rest of the team.

This race is being held on a frozen river or ice road.  Temperature was about -30 degrees with windchill.  Taking pictures was a chore for the camera and point and shoot cameras cease to function in this weather.  My hands nearly ceased to function in this weather.

This musher participated in the Bogus run which is half of the distance.

A real musher.

I love these hot pink booties.  I don't love the devil eyes from the flash.

This song was sung at a school program the morning of the race.

This is what the end of the race looks like.
